Eagles send a message in the Great Southern Women's competition

McLaren Districts inflicted Willunga’s first loss of the season with a low-scoring seven-point win at Willunga on Saturday night during round five action in the Great Southern Football League (GSFL) ‘A’ Grade Women’s competition. McLaren Districts led by three points at halftime, before winning 2.6 (18) to 1.5 (11). Caitlin Ross and Ebony Woodward kicked the goals for the Eagles, while Bella Rigby was the sole goal kicker for the Demons. Best players for McLaren Districts were Ross, Lilian Booij, Lisa Whiteley, Ally Bailey, Alycia Hepburn and Taylah Scapens. Kirstin Remfrey, Jodie Hunt, Courtney Gutschmidt, Frankie Stone, Rigby and Ada Anninos were named best for Willunga.


Goolwa/Port Elliot remained undefeated after a comfortable 76-point win against Myponga-Sellicks last Friday night. The Magpies led by 14 points at quarter time, 40 points at halftime, and 50 points at the last change, before winning 11.10 (76) to 0.0 (0). Rachel Wood (3), Indiana Quaremba (2) and Jessica Bailey (2) were the multiple goalkickers for the Magpies, while their best players included Amber McKinlay, Bailey, Wood, Lily Short, Bridget Lindsay and Kaya Angus. Elsie Upton, Courtney Gum and Brooke Goslett were among the best players for the Mudlarks.


Victor Harbor won their second game of the season with a 28-point win against Yankalilla/Encounter Bay at Victor Harbor on Saturday night. The ‘Roos led at every change to triumph 4.5 (29) to 0.1 (1). Best players for ‘Victor’ were Halle Crowe, Jemma Liddell (2 goals), Jasmine Bailey, Annabelle Yelland, Lucy Rubie and Rebecca Baga. Kate Sanders, Halle James, Taylor Haywood, Chloe Howlett, Anabella Walden and Chelsea Walker were named best for the Stingrays.
