Eagles soar into top-two in Great Southern Women's Football

McLaren Districts moved to second spot on the ladder after defeating Victor Harbor by 94 points during round four action in the Great Southern Football League (GSFL) ‘A’ Grade Women’s competition at Victor Harbor last Friday. The Eagles won 13.17 (95) to 0.1 (1). Sheena Peters (4), Caitlin Ross (3) and Alycia Hepburn (2) were the leading goalkickers for McLaren Districts. Best players for the Eagles included Hepburn, Taylah Scapens, Layla Rogers, Mia Dunn and Lilian Booij. Chloe Byrne, Aloura Kirk and Annabelle Yelland were among the best players for Victor Harbor.


Reigning premier Willunga continued their unbeaten start to the season following a 127-point win against Myponga-Sellicks yesterday. The Demons led by 47 points at quarter time, 75 points at halftime, and 102 points at the last change, before winning 19.13 (127) to 0.0 (0). Emma Leask kicked four goals in a best-on-ground performance for the Demons. Tamara Page (4), Cleo Guilfoyle (3) and Jodie Hunt (2) were the other multiple goalkickers for Willunga. Joining Leask in the best players for Willunga were Kirstin Remfrey, Hunt, Ruby Hay, Page and Courtney Gutschmidt. Charlie Shaw-Mcmillan, Cristel Chambers and Felicity Whiley were among the best players for the Mudlarks.


Goolwa/Port Elliot won their third game of the season after defeating Yankalilla/Encounter Bay by 11 points in a low-scoring game at Willunga yesterday. The Magpies won 3.4 (22) to 1.5 (11). Rachel Wood, Eve Polmear and Taylor Kennedy were the goalkickers for Goolwa/Port Elliot, while Kate Sanders was the sole goalkicker for the Stingrays. Lily Short, Bridget Lindsay, Jessica Bailey, Indiana Quaremba, Rachel Searle and Taya Forbes were named best for the Magpies, while Anabella Walden, Chloe Howlett, Kimberly Robinson, Chelsea Walker, Delia Althorp and Tyler Rigney-Garrett were best for Yankalilla/Encounter Bay
