Eagles soar to second spot in the Great Southern Women's competition

McLaren moved up to second spot on the FPAG ‘A’ Grade Women’s ladder following their comprehensive 69-point win against Victor Harbor during round seven action in the Great Southern Football League Women’s competition yesterday. The Eagles led throughout to win 11.9 (75) to 1.0 (6). Sally Fuller kicked four goals in a best-on-ground performance for the Eagles, while Jaimee Millard kicked the only goal for ‘Victor’. Joining Fuller in the best players for McLaren were Meg Bentley, Kaysha Dellow, Jessica Shaw and Hannah Georgeson. Best for Victor Harbor included Grace Dorward, Skye Kartinyeri-Sumner and Natasha Fairhurst.


Strathalbyn consolidated their spot in the top-four after a tough 15-point win against Mount Compass on Saturday night at ‘Strath’. The game was tight throughout as the Roosters won 5.4 (34) to 3.1 (19). Tijana Jokic was the only multiple goalkicker on the ground with two goals for Strathalbyn. Tessa Grant, Rosie Shaw, Rebecca Rice, Morgan Tucker and Holly Santibanez were named best for ‘Strath’. Best players for Mount Compass were Amy Vitkunas, Brooke Boileau, Kiahni Russell, Kiara Upitis and Caroline Scott.


Willunga remained undefeated with a 64-point win against Goolwa/Port Elliot at McLaren Vale yesterday. The Demons led by 22 points at quarter time, 43 points at halftime and 52 points at the last change, before winning 10.16 (76) to 2.0 (12). Tamara Page (3) and Holly Ifould (2) were the multiple goalkickers for the Demons, while Rachel Searle and Kerrie-Ann Moon kicked the Magpies’ goals. Caitlin Radbone, returning from South Adelaide, was best on ground for Willunga and she was ably supported by Grace Duffy, Katrice Turner, Jodie Hunt and Ifould. Best players for Goolwa/Port Elliot included Searle, Megan Hoad and Moon.


Yankalilla had the bye.
