McLaren continued their unbeaten start to the season with a convincing 58-point win against reigning premier Willunga during round three action in the Great Southern Football League (GSFL) on Saturday. After a tight first quarter saw McLaren lead by 10 points, the Eagles dominated the rest of the match, kicking 10 goals to two, to run out winners 12.10 (82) to 3.6 (24). James Grimley (4) and Matthew Merrett (3) were the multiple goalkickers for McLaren, while Liam Nye kicked two majors for Willunga. Tarak Redigolo, Todd McKay, Tyson Brown, Sam Lawrie and James Grimley were named best players for McLaren. For Willunga, Lachlan Scott, Darcy Scott and Cameron McDonald were among their best players.


Encounter Bay are also undefeated following their 29-point win at Victor Harbor. Ben Davis kicked five goals for the Bays, and he was ably supported by Tyson Neale and Jake Tarca who kicked three goals each, as Encounter Bay won 15.9 (99) to 10.10 (70). Tyler Baldock, Davis, Oakley Johnson, Cohen Pettitt and Fraser Tonkin were named in the best players for the Bays. For 'Victor', Sam Basham and James Hewett kicked three goals with Harry Vincent, Ben Yeomans and Rhys Bartram among the best players. 


Mount Compass won their first game of the season with an emphatic 81-point win against Goolwa/Port Elliot at Goolwa. The final scores were Mount Compass 18.16 (124) to Goolwa/Port Elliot 5.13 (43). Tom Pinyon kicked six goals in a best-on-ground performance, while Corey Grove and Jordan Hooper kicked three goals each. Kai Iwao was the only multiple goalkicker for the Magpies with two majors. Joining Pinyon in the best players for the Bulldogs were Bailey Hann, Brandon McKenzie, Adam Hunter and Tom Dix. Jordan Wilson-King, Fred Nissen, Frazer Hayward, Harry Pearce and Cody Griffiths were best for Goolwa/Port Elliot.


Myponga/Sellicks won their second game of the season with a comfortable 102-point win against Yankalilla. The Mudlarks’ win puts them up to third spot on the ladder ahead of a big clash with Encounter Bay next weekend. Myponga/Sellicks had plenty of avenues to goal with 11 different goalkickers as they won 18.19 (127) to 3.7 (25). Ben Kennedy (4), Hassan Ahmat-Watkins (3), Thomas Carroll (2) and Cooper Gilbert (2) were the Mudlarks’ multiple goalkickers. Ryan Fisher, Will Hogben and Angus Weir were the only goalkickers for the Tigers on a tough day. Best players for the Mudlarks were Levi Proude, Luke Whitford, Ben Kennedy, Scott Ogilvie and Sam Kennedy. ‘Yank’ was best served by Weir, Jesse Fitzgerald and Kaleigh Fitzgerald.


Langhorne Creek won their first game of the season with a convincing 53-point win over local rival Strathalbyn in their ANZAC Day clash yesterday at Langhorne Creek. A tight first half saw the ‘Creeks’ lead by just two points at halftime, before they completely took control of the contest, kicking nine goals to one in the second half, to win 14.10 (94) to 6.5 (41). Langhorne Creek had nine different goalkickers with Caleb Howell leading the way with three goals. Riley Clamp kicked two goals for the Roosters. Darcy Clifford, Jarrod Kellock, Jake Dominish, Ben Arbon and Troy Blackwell were best for the Hawks. For Strathalbyn, Marc Elliott, Tom Redden, Richard O’Grady, Mark Tucker and Reid Mahains were their best.
