Eagles soar to their first win of the season in the Great Southern Football League Women's competition

McLaren Eagles won their first game of 2022 following their 20-point win against Goolwa/Port Elliot during round three action of the FPAG ‘A’ Grade Women’s competition in the Great Southern Football League (GSFL). The Eagles led by just six points at the last change before they kicked two goals to none in the last quarter to win 6.3 (39) to 3.1 (19). The Eagles’ Bianca Coom (2) was the only multiple goalkicker for either side. Best players for McLaren were Emily Rowe, Gwen Humphreys, Donna Boal, Katrina Munzberg and Katie Whish. For Goolwa/Port Elliot, Rachel Searle, Kaya Angus and Lucy Earl were among their best players.


Reigning premier Willunga continued on their merry way in 2022 with a convincing 91-point win against Strathalbyn at Willunga on Saturday night. The Demons led by 24 points at quarter time, 56 points at halftime and 77 points at the last change before winning 16.8 (104) to 2.1 (13). Emily Cooper kicked six goals in a best-on-ground display for Willunga, while Stellar Remphrey-Pese kicked four. Joining Cooper and Remphrey-Pese in the best for the Demons were Caitlin Radbone, Lauren Buchanan and Tamara Page. Katie Ehlers, Indi Miller, Emma Chapman, Mellissa Buttery and Megan Rich were the best players for the Roosters.


Mount Compass won their second game of the season after defeating Yankalilla at McLaren Vale by 43 points, 10.6 (66) to 3.5 (23). Kiara Upitis kicked three goals in a best-on-ground performance for the Bulldogs and she was well supported by Emma Zimmermann, Tyler Rigney Garrett, Caroline Scott and Amy Vitkunas. Best players for Yankalilla were Demy Zahradnik, Mexie Marks, Tahlia Parsons, Tegan Cross and Chloe Howlett. 


Victor Harbor had the bye.
