South Australians are poised to get back to (the new) normal, following the announcement that the current Covid-19 lockdown period would come to an early finish.

The announcement was made at this afternoon's press conference from South Australian Premier Steven Marshall, Police Commissioner Grant Stevens and Chief Public Health Officer Nicola Spurrier, who revealed the six-day 'circuit breaker' lockdown in South Australia was based on a lie.

It was announced that one of the people who have tested positive for Covid-19 did not catch the disease after purchasing a pizza from the Woodville Pizza Bar - one of the current coronavirus 'hotspots' in South Australia - but was instead working there. This meant he was a close contact of the first Covid-positive pizza bar worker, who also worked as a security guard at the Medi Hotel from which the current Covid-19 cluster was sparked.

Effective immediately, exercise in family groups is now permitted, while the stay at home order will be repealed at midnight tomorrow (Saturday).

At the same time, hospitality venues will also be allowed to reopen with the restriction of 100 patrons at a time with one person per four square metres inside, and table bookings will be capped at 10.

Fifty people will be allowed at funerals and 150 at weddings.

Gyms will also be allowed to reopen.

Mask wearing remains strongly encouraged although they are not compulsory.

Although the state is reopening, the Premier clarified that the Parafield cluster is "still a very dangerous cluster and our health experts remain extremely concerned".

With South Australian businesses including many on the Fleurieu having lost business over the past few days and suffering in 2020 more broadly, the release from lockdown allows the public an opportunity to get back out there and support local businesses more than ever.

Whether it's a lunch or dinner booking on Sunday or beyond, a shopping trip for Christmas presents, stocking up on local produce, beer and wine or booking a holiday; it's time to get back out there and show your support.
