A 3.6 magnitude earthquake shook Kangaroo Island in the early hours of Wednesday 13 August, according to Geoscience Australia.
The epicentre was west of Kingscote at a depth of 10km, with reports of windows shaking as far away as Victor Harbor, on the mainland.
Island resident Jan Pengilly told ABC radio she heard a booming noise and initially thought it was very loud possums on the roof.
There have been no reports of damage or injuries.
