Traffic controllers will be used at Goolwa Beach on-ramp this Easter to try and minimise the usual traffic issues experienced at times of high-demand.

The Council says the controllers will ensure traffic and pedestrian safety, assist the flow of traffic on and off the beach and maintain access to the carpark, surf club and Kuti Shack restaurant,

Those who are wanting to access the beach via car must ensure their 4WD is adequately prepared with high clearance for the soft sand entrance.

The speed limit on Goolwa Beach remains at 100 km/h despite representations to the former Transport Minister and Department of Transport by the Alexandrina Council.

A number of near misses between cars and pedestrians on the beach were reported to SA Police over the summer holiday season.

The best vantage points to watch the drivers get bogged on the on / off ramp are at the side of the Goolwa Surf Club or the viewing platform overlooking the beach.
