RSPCA South Australia is seeking the public’s help to find information regarding a young dog found in extremely emaciated condition in Onkaparinga Hills last Thursday afternoon.

His condition was so poor when first found that he was unable to walk or stand unsupported, and he weighed just 7.68kilos.

The 10-month-old, undesexed male Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross was found lying beside a creek in a park located in Onkaparinga Hills.

He was taken to a Morphett Vale veterinary clinic before being transferred into care with the RSPCA vet team at Lonsdale. He was assessed as having a body condition score of 1/9, with severe muscle wastage and anaemia. He was also suffering from dehydration and diarrhea, with evidence he had been consuming grass, hair and other non-food items.

The dog is not microchipped and was not wearing collar. Despite his condition, he has a friendly temperament indicating he is possibly someone’s pet. He is now receiving expert care in the home of one of RSPCA SA’s vets.

Anyone with any information is urged to contact RSPCA on: 1300 4 777 22
