An emergency warning has been issued for the Fire at Ravine near the Ravine Des Casoars Wilderness Protection Area, part of the Flinders Chase National Park on the Western end of Kangaroo Island.
There is also an emergency warning for the fire in the Cooper Road/Duncan area burning in a southerly direction towards Parndarna.
Anyone in these areas is in danger and should act now. Identify where you will seek shelter, preferably in a solid building. Only leave if your path is clear to a safer place.
Heat from the fire can kill you well before the flames reach you. Don't enter these areas as fire fighters are now unable to prevent the fire spreading.
The Playford Highway/West End Highway, Ravine fire is uncontrolled. This scrub fire is burning in all directions through the Flinders Chase National Park. Conditions are continually changing.

Road conditions may become very dangerous over the next few hours.

An emergency relief centre has been opened at the Kingscote football oval, on Centenary Avenue, for people leaving fire-affected areas, looking for a safe place to retreat.
A cool change is expected to reach Kangaroo Island at around 5pm and move across it over the following few hours. This is likely to change conditions affecting the fireground and everyone should remain alert to updates and warnings from the CFS.
