Emus move into the top-five in the Southern Football League

Morphett Vale moved inside the top five of the Southern Football League (SFL) following their 23-point win at home against Christies Beach during round 13 action yesterday. The Emus led at every change to win 10.15 (75) to 8.4 (52). Kim Kantilla, in his first game for the club, was the leading goalkicker on the ground with three goals for Morphett Vale. Andrew Crate, Rhys Mundy and Kane Blake kicked two goals each for the Saints. Best players for the Emus included Braydan Hartwig, Aiden Baker, Khori Mills-Richardson, Robert Schindler-Taylor and Connor Mulloy. Christies Beach was best served by Mundy, Brad Truscott, Josh Semmens, Joel Andruszkiewicz and Josh de Roode. 


Flagstaff Hill continued their unbeaten season with a comfortable 45-point win at Happy Valley. The Falcons led by 34 points at halftime, before kicking four goals to one in the second half to win 8.12 (60) to 1.9 (15). Sam Smith, Sam Jacobs and Aiden Grayson all kicked two goals for Flagstaff Hill, while Liam O’Connor kicked the only goal for the Vikings. Sam Smith was named best for ‘Flaggies’ and he got good support from Ben Burbridge, Grayson, Ryan Mountford and Nick Bailey. Happy Valley’s best were Harry Vick, Josh Dwyer-Sterzl, Harry Davenport, Jayden Little and Nick Frisby-Smith.


Noarlunga has all but wrapped up the all-important double chance with a tough 10-point win against local rival Port Noarlunga. The game was tight throughout with ‘Porties’ leading by five points at the last change. Noarlunga finished stronger, kicking 2.5 to 0.2, to triumph 8.8 (56) to 7.4 (46). Jamie Grosser kicked four goals in a best-on-ground performance for the Shoes, while Vic Robertson kicked three. Sam Roberts and Gary Karpany kicked two goals each for the Cockle Divers. Joining Grosser in the best players for the Shoes were Nathan Schulz, Jake Anderson, Jamison Snelling and Vic Robertson. Best players for Port Noarlunga included Karpany, James Ledgard, Tom Dix, Billy Cook and Joshua Johns. 


Cove won their fourth game of the season with a low-scoring 13-point win against Aldinga yesterday. The game was tight throughout with Aldinga leading by nine points at the last change. Cove finished strongly, kicking three unanswered goals in the last quarter, to win 5.12 (42) to 4.5 (29). Ryan Need was the only multiple goalkicker for the afternoon with two majors for the Cobras. Best players for Cove included Corey Jackson, Kyle Stoldt, Aaron Wordsworth, Jackson Riddle and Oliver Moore. Best for the Sharks were Sam Bentley, Josiah Sheppard, Luke Watson, Tyler Stewart-England and Bailey Pilmore.
