Esplanade car park works

Car parking will be further restricted in Victor Harbor with civil works at the stormwater outlet near the Esplanade Car Park starting tomorrow, Saturday 27 August.

The City of Victor Harbor is currently undertaking construction works for Stage Four of the Victor Harbor Mainstreet Precinct Upgrade.

A significant component of this project involves upgrade of the stormwater system.

The council says works in The Esplanade car park will improve the quality of stormwater at the existing outlet.

“To complete the installation of the stormwater in this location, a process known as dewatering is required.

“This involves removing groundwater within the excavation to ensure construction work can continue safely.”

It says the project team has been working closely with the Environment Protection Authority (EPA) and will carry out the dewatering process from 27 August for as long as is needed to complete the work.

“The dewatering will see groundwater pumped nearby into vegetation in the dunes on the Esplanade, in line with EPA approval.”

Following the dewatering, the council’s Open Space team will undertake additional planting around the dunes area.
