Grand Final (2.40pm Sunday 15 September @ Aldinga)

Minor premier Aldinga Sharks will face off against reigning premier Cove Cobras in the Southern Football League Women’s (SFLW) Grand Final at Aldinga on Sunday. Aldinga have had a fantastic 2019 campaign and enter the decider on a 12-game winning streak including a comprehensive 45-point win over Flagstaff Hill in the second semi-final. Cove had a disastrous start to their premiership defence, only winning one of their first seven games but have rattled home, dropping only two of their last 11 matches. Those two losses were to Aldinga but only by 15 points and then in the final minor round by a solitary point.

Aldinga have been well served this season by Sophia Flanagan-Sjoberg who has been named in the best players for the Sharks 13 times this season. Cassandra Yerasimou and Jasmine Smith form a potent two-pronged forward threat with 37 and 30 goals respectively for the season. Samantha Franson, Jaime Norup and Lauren Kenny have been superb for the Cobras and they will have a big say in their teams fortunes on Sunday. 

It should be a cracking contest between two sides at the peak of their powers. Do yourself a favour and get along to Aldinga on Sunday to catch some great local Football! My tip...Aldinga by 10 points.
