Extra ambulances and paramedics sent to cover Schoolies

Three extra ambulances and three additional single responder paramedics are heading to Victor Harbor during this weekend’s Schoolies Festival.

The SA Ambulance Service (SAAS) is also placing a Command Team based in the town to provide clinical and preventative support for schoolies and the the onsite St John volunteer response.

A SAAS spokesperson says the additional resources are in place to cover the extra demand due to schoolies and ensuring that timely emergency care is available for festival participants, festival staff and volunteers – as well as the local community.

The spokesperson said, “ SAAS encourages attendees to have a great time, but to know their limits, stay safe and look out for mates.”

“Schoolies is a time to celebrate but we don't want to see festival-goers in the back of an ambulance.”

The Schoolies Festival starts this evening and continues until Sunday.

About 4000 school leavers are expected to head to Victor Harbor for the event.
