In preparation for challenges facing the south coast over the next ten years, the City of Victor Harbor is developing a coastal adaptation strategy.
It has been working with consulting team Integrated Coasts to identify key coastal issues and vulnerabilities and to identify options for management and mitigation.
Stage one of the project, in early 2021, saw the council do a coastal adaptation study to understand how the coast has been changing over time.
This study set a baseline to compare future changes and looked at how people, the natural environment and built assets might be impacted by rising sea levels in the future.
The council encouraged the community to submit information and evidence of coastal changes and storm events in the Victor Harbor area.
The final stage of the project involves developing a coastal adaptation strategy, taking into account the longer-term impacts of climate change.
The community is again invited to take part by learning more about the strategy and giving feedback.
There will be a community webinar from 4pm on Wednesday 15 September that anyone can join.
Access the draft coastal adaptation strategy, the feedback form, an online survey and register for the webinar via the City of Victor Harbor website.
All feedback must be submitted before 5pm on Friday 1 October.
