Falcons back in form in the Southern Football League

Flagstaff Hill got back on the winners list after defeating Christies Beach by 58 points during round 15 action in the Southern Football League (SFL) at Bice Oval yesterday. The Falcons led by 18 points at halftime before kicking nine goals to three in the second half to win 14.19 (103) to 6.9 (45). Aiden Grayson kicked three goals for ‘Flaggies’, while Harrison Butcher kicked two goals for ‘Christies’. Best players for the Falcons included D’Arcy Mitchell, Reece Milsom, Bradley Patterson, Grayson, Blake Aldridge and Michael Shearer. Christies Beach was best served by Joshua Semmens, Ryan Matthews, Butcher, Thomas Kirwan, Aidan Coakley and Joshua de Roode. 


Port Noarlunga wrapped up a top-three spot, and the all important double chance, with a comprehensive 106-point win against Cove yesterday. The Cockle Divers won every quarter on their way to a 27.18 (180) to 11.8 (74) triumph. Zac Sproule kicked 10 goals for Port Noarlunga (61 for the season) and teenager Max Savage kicked five goals in his ‘A’ grade debut. Ryan Need (4) and Jayden Morton (3) were the leading goalkickers for the Cobras. Best players for Port Noarlunga were Nathaniel Paredes, Sproule, Savage, Brodie Smith, Darcy Warman and Jonathan Cook. The Cobras best included Need, James Farrugia, Jackson Riddle, Rhys Mutch, Dean Hancock and James Wilton.


Happy Valley consolidated their spot in the top-five after a comfortable 119-point win over Morphett Vale. The Vikings dominated all day to win 20.20 (140) to 3.3 (21). Liam O’Connor kicked five goals for Happy Valley and Harry Davenport chipped in with four majors. Dylan Williams kicked two goals for the Emus. Liam Hamilton, O’Connor, Tate Coleman, Harry Spacie, Tain Smelt and Jack Flett were named in the best players for Happy Valley, while Dylan Miller, Robert Schindler-Taylor, Aiden Baker, Connor Lock and Daniel Bode were in the best for Morphett Vale.


Reynella remained on top of the ladder following a comprehensive 88-point win against Ironbank Cherry Gardens. The Wine Flies dominated the first half to lead by 58 points at the long break. A further 11 goals to six in the second half saw Reynella win 21.20 (146) to 8.10 (58). Bailey Marshman was a star up forward for Reynella with eight goals, while Jake Pokoina kicked two majors for Ironbank Cherry Gardens. Joining Marshman in the best players for the Wine Flies were Sam Whitbread, Jacob McDonald, Luke Cooper, Lachlan McGuinness and Dylan Roser. The Thunderers were best served by Ben Marsh, Isaac Hoepfl, Tyler Quinn, Pokoina, Levi Grigg and Max Matheson.


Noarlunga remained just percentage out of the top-five after a comfortable 61-point win at Aldinga yesterday. The Shoes won every quarter on their way to a 19.13 (127) to 10.6 (66) victory. Tom Anderson (6), Sam Beard (4) and Terry Kathopoulis (3) were the leading goalkickers for Noarlunga, while Tom Pilmore was named best for Aldinga with four goals. Best players for the Shoes included Beau Donaldson, Anderson, Nick Mott, Sam Beard, Kathopoulis and Sam Carlyle. Joining Pilmore in the best for the Sharks were Ryan Parry, Thomas Boreham, Angus Stangewitz, Harper Kuerschner and Isaac Churchill.
