Falcons loom large in the Southern Football League Women's competition

Reigning premier Flagstaff Hill made a statement to the competition with a hard-fought seven-point win over second placed Port Noarlunga during round 15 action in the Southern Football League (SFL) ‘A’ Grade Women’s competition on Saturday. The Falcons trailed by a point at the last change before kicking the only goal of the final term to win 3.4 (22) to 2.3 (15). Best players for ‘Flaggies’ included Jasmin Partridge, Elizabeth Johnson, Emily Brockhurst, Brooke Watson and Amelia Morriss. Best for ‘Porties’ were Kalahni Howes, Bree Chapman, Jolie Malinowski, Shakira Dolman and Charli Faulkner.


Cove kept their finals hopes alive with a comprehensive 168-point win over Hackham last Friday night. The Cobras led by 91 points at halftime and kicked a further 11 goals in the second half to win 25.18 (168) to 0.0 (0). Jaime Norup had an absolute day out with 13 goals in a best-on-ground display for Cove. She was well supported by Ella Gill, Alesia LeDuff, Breanna Stoldt and Ashleigh Need. The Hawks were best served by Dakota Dwyer, Chloe Lea, Shayley MacFayden, Nevara Richards and Krista Mitchell.


Reynella kept the pressure on for the all-important double chance after defeating Noarlunga by 142 points yesterday at Old Noarlunga. Reynella led by 21 points at quarter time, 62 points at halftime and 92 points at the last change, before winning 22.16 (148) to 1.0 (6). Madison Bennett kicked five goals for the Wine Flies and was named best-on-ground, while Sarah Bourn and Ashlee Wright kicked three majors each. Megan Weetra kicked the only goal for the Shoes. Other good players for Reynella included Caitlin Walter, Macie Piscopo, Zannah Loxton, Bourn and Morgan Blackwell. Best players for Noarlunga included Colette Barnard, Shontaya Burgoyne, Elyshiah Forrest, Alice Worrall and Cherinah Adderton.


Christies Beach wrapped up the minor premiership with a 170-point win at Aldinga yesterday. The final scores were Christies Beach 26.14 (170) to Aldinga 0.0 (0). Cadence Bryowsky kicked 12 goals for the Saints giving her 47 majors for the season. Jordan Bousfield and Emily Risitano chimed in with three majors each for ‘Christies’. Best players for Christies Beach were Isabella Zito, Cadence Bryowsky, Mia Dunn, Brooke O’Brien and Neriah Mills. Aldinga’s best were Paige Bartlett, Nikki Duggan, Mackenzie Jones, Jessamy Stanway and Olivia Cumming.
