Flagstaff Hill are through to their seventh Southern Football League (SFL) Grand Final in eight years after a tough 12-point win against Noarlunga in the second semi-final at Bice Oval yesterday. The Falcons led by six points at quarter time, 13 points at halftime, and 18 points at the last change, before winning 11.6 (72) to 9.6 (60). Sam Jacobs kicked three goals for ‘Flaggies’, while Matt Eagles and Callum Gaspari kicked two goals each for Noarlunga. Best players for Flagstaff Hill included Brad Kirk, Nathan Beenham, Mackenzie Short, Adam Bunworth and Jacobs. Best players for the Shoes were Josh Beard, Jake Anderson, Eagles, Jake Birch and Nathan Schulz.
Reigning premier Reynella will face-off with Noarlunga in Saturday’s preliminary final after a convincing 61-point win against Morphett Vale at Port Noarlunga today. The first half was low scoring, with just seven goals kicked between the two sides, as Reynella led by 21 points at the long break. The Wine Flies extended their lead out to 22 points at the last change, before kicking seven goals to one in the last quarter to win 15.11 (101) to 6.4 (40). Reynella had 10 different goalkickers with Callan Semple leading the way with three goals, while Blake Carter kicked two goals for Morphett Vale. Best players for the Wine Flies included Marc Borholm, Sam Whitbread, Tyler Davies, Bailey Marshman and Talon Copley. Best for the Emus were Michael Smith, Harry Clarkson, Bodie Sowter, Julian Mardigan and Jake Dorshorst.
