Falcons soaring in the Southern Football League

Flagstaff Hill are looking ominous after a huge 177-point win against Christies Beach during round three action in the Southern Football League (SFL) yesterday. It’s the second win in a row by more than 150 points for the Falcons. Flagstaff Hill led by 86 points at halftime, before kicking a further 16 goals in the second half to win 29.20 (194) to 2.5 (17). The Falcons had 13 different goalkickers including Sam Jacobs (6), Sam Smith (5), Aiden Grayson (3), Brad Patterson (3), and Josh Rosman (3). Best players for Flagstaff Hill included Reece Milsom, Patterson, Rosman, Cameron Blake, and Mackenzie Short. Christies Beach was best served by Rhys Mundy, Tom Truscott, Joel Andruszkiewicz, Brad Truscott, and Brock Montgomery.


Noarlunga continued their undefeated start to the season with a 13-point win against Cove yesterday. The Shoes led by 24 points at the last change, but to the Cobras credit, they held Noarlunga goalless in the last quarter. The final scores were Noarlunga 11.8 (74) to Cove 9.7 (61). Tom Anderson kicked three goals for the Shoes, while Ryan Need and Lincoln Holder also kicked three goals for Cove. Bailey Hann, Hayden Case-Peach, Josh Beard, Luke Ross, and Jake Anderson were best for Noarlunga. Cove’s best players included Jackson Riddle, Need, Holder, Simon Hulme, and Riley Jones.


Reigning premier Reynella won their second game of the season with a 33-point win at Aldinga. The Wine Flies led throughout to win a low-scoring affair 7.15 (57) to 3.6 (24). Daniel Harris was the leading goalkicker for the game with three goals for Reynella, while Talon Copley kicked two. Luke Watson, Cameron Jarrett, and Isaac Churchill were the goalkickers for Aldinga. Liam Reid, Copley, Lachlan McGuinness, Marc Borholm, and Tyler Davies were named best players for the Wine Flies. Best for Aldinga were Angus Stangewitz, Watson, Mitch Jarrett, Josiah Sheppard, and Ryder Kortman.


Happy  Valley made it a perfect three-from-three with a 30-point win at Port Noarlunga yesterday. Scores were level at quarter time, before the Vikings kicked eight goals to four for the rest of the game to win 12.16 (88) to 8.10 (58). Corey Grocock kicked three goals for Happy Valley, while Nathaniel Paredes also kicked three goals for the Cockle Divers. Josh Dwyer-Sterzl was named best player for Happy Valley and he was well supported by Harry Vick, Tate Coleman, Liam Hamilton, and Joel Beeche. Billy Cook, Paredes, Oliver Petrohilos, Patrick Smith, and James Ledgard were best for Port Noarlunga.
