Falcons swoop into the top-two in the Southern Football League Women's comp

Flagstaff Hill moved into the top-two after a tough 10-point win against Port Noarlunga during round 10 action in the Southern Football League Women’s (SFLW) competition at Flagstaff Hill on Sunday. The game was tight throughout as ‘Flaggies’ won 4.3 (27) to 2.5 (17). Jessica Couch and Amber Cloughessy kicked two goals each for the Falcons, while Philippa Worthley and Jolande Winson kicked the goals for ‘Porties’. Best players for Flagstaff Hill included Emma Hodgson, Kelsey Rodman, Tiana Lush, Chloe Meyers, Melanie Koster and Elise Winton. The Cockle Divers were best served by Bree Chapman, Zoe Flesfadar, Worthley, Abby Dittmar, Shakira Dolman and Belinda Gale.


Cove consolidated their position in the top-four after defeating Ironbank Cherry Gardens by 39 points at Cherry Gardens on Sunday. Cove led by 10 points at halftime, before kicking three unanswered goals in the second half to win 5.15 (45) to 1.0 (6). Emily Risitano (3) and Kate Galley (2) were the goalkickers for the Cobras, while Jessie O’Brien kicked the Thunderers only goal. Best players for Cove included Ella Gill, Dana O'Brien, Breanna Stoldt, Iona Parr, Galley and Jaime Norup. Cassandra Wilson, Josie Harris, Audrey Myers, Olivia Walker-Obushak, Bailey Preston and Georgia Kempster were named best for the Thunderers.


Reigning premier Reynella has all but wrapped up the minor premiership after defeating Hackham by 99 points. The Wine Flies are undefeated and sitting three games clear on top of the ladder with six rounds to go. Reynella led at every change before winning 17.5 (107) to 1.2 (8). Sarah Bourn was the standout forward on the field with eight goals, while Jaya Shreeve kicked four goals in a best-on-ground performance. Other good players for the Wine Flies included Mia Dunsmore, Zannah Loxton, Sienna Garner and Charlotte Watson. Keryn Tyler kicked the only goal for the Hawks, while their best players were Chelsea Parsons, Nevara Richards, Dakota Dwyer, Kiah Smith, Tallara Power and Tyler.
