Police are investigating a fire at Ashbourne today.

Just after 2.30pm, Monday 3 January, patrols and CFS crews were called to a property on Ford Road, after reports of a grass fire. It took crews over an hour to extinguish the blaze which burnt about four hectares of grassland.

It is believed the fire started after the property owner, a 76-year-old woman, had been using matches to melt adhesive to try and repair some PVC piping.

Thankfully the woman was not injured and investigations are continuing.
