Mawson MP Leon Bignell will be the special guest at the Yankalilla Normanville Progress Association AGM to be held next Wednesday 27 August.

The Association was established in 2024 to promote local wellbeing; provide a forum for information and ideas; and foster cooperation with other community groups and organisations,

It also holds events and raises funds to support the community and promotes environmental sustainability and conservation efforts in the region.

The inaugural chair is Shane Grocke, who now also represents Light Ward on the District Council of Yankalilla.

Among its current initiatives is debating the future of the Normanville jetty, which has been severely damaged in recent storms.

It also proposes installation of town maps; encouragement of travellers to Kangaroo Island to stop, explore, and support local communities; and ensuring defibrillators are accessible in the Heart Safe Community project.

The AGM will be held at 7pm at Aqua Blue at Normanville Beach and the association encourages interested residents of the district to join as members and consider nominating for the committee. For details visit the YNPA website.
