Kangaroo Island Council has announced it is working with Advance Kingscote to establish a dedicated dog park in the Brownlow Parklands.

It says community consultation revealed strong support for a fenced exercise area where dogs can safely play and socialise. 

Key survey results included:

• 94 per cent in favour of a dog park.
• 87 per cent said they would use or maybe use it.
• 19 per cent would visit daily and 36 per cent a few times a week.

The approved plan includes separate enclosures for small and large dogs; a dog-friendly drinking fountain; and rubbish bins for convenience.

The project will be developed over the next few months, with no completion date yet set.
