The District Council of Yankalilla is calling for community input to celebrate the Tour Down Under visit to the region next January.
Billed as an opportunity to showcase the local community to the world, the council wants people to get involved.
The 2023 Tour Down Under rolls across the Fleurieu on Thursday 19 January 2023.
The peloton leaves Brighton at 11 am and will cross the Myponga reservoir wall, then pass through Carrickalinga and Normanville.
There will be a timed sprint through Yankalilla before riders tackle a King of the Mountain into Parawa, then on to the finish in Victor Harbor.
With the peloton going through four of the district’s townships, the council intends to leverage the massive media coverage of the race.
The Santos Best Dressed competition has been part of the event since its inception in 1999.
Myponga is a previous winner of best-dressed town, a competition that brings together townships, private properties and businesses to add colour and vibrancy to the international event, which is beamed to over 558 million people worldwide.
The council is keen to work with businesses and community groups to theme local townships and communities for the world stage in 2023.
It is calling for people to brainstorm ideas for jazzing up towns and businesses, with a commitment of a couple of meetings to toss around ideas and get a coordinated approach.
Anyone interested in getting involved should contact Lisa Pearson via email.
