Flagstaff Hill back on track in the Southern Football League

Reigning premier Flagstaff Hill flexed their muscles to consolidate their spot in the top-five of the Southern Football League (SFL) after defeating Happy Valley by 43 points on Saturday. The game was all tied up at halftime but after the long break, the Falcons kicked seven goals to one to win 12.13 (85) to 6.6 (42). Aiden Grayson and Daniel Butcher kicked three goals each for ‘Flaggies’, while Ben Geytenbeek and Dwayne Ruddock each kicked two majors for the Vikings. Best players for Flagstaff Hill were Tynan Carney, David Kearsley, Luke Beenham, Brad Patterson and Nathan Beenham. Scott Rademacher, Joel Beeche and Kieren Bartlett were among the best players for Happy Valley. 


Noarlunga are up to second spot on the ladder following their 128-point win against Aldinga at Old Noarlunga on Saturday. The Shoes led by just four points after a low-scoring first quarter before they exploded in the second term, kicking nine goals to zero, to lead by 64 points at halftime. A further 10 goals to one in the second half saw Noarlunga win 20.23 (143) to 2.3 (15). The Shoes had 10 different goalkickers with Jaidan Kappler leading the way with five majors. Sam Noble and Cameron Jarrett kicked Aldinga's two goals. Thomas Mott, Kappler, Daniel Buechter, Jarrad Liebelt and Ben Jarman were named best players for Noarlunga. For Aldinga, Angus Stangewitz, Scott O’Dea and Brady O’Hanlon were among their best players. 


Christies Beach defeated Port Noarlunga by 100 points at Bice Oval on Saturday to keep in touch with the top-five. The Saints led by 29 points at quarter time, 43 points at halftime and 81 points at the last change, before winning 22.9 (141) to 6.5 (41). ‘Christies’ had 10 different goalkickers with Bailey Short kicking six and Jacob Crate slotting five majors. Clint Calyun and Thomas Hynes kicked two goals each for ‘Porties’. James Conlon, Short, Crate, Aidan Coakley and Ben Powell were named best for Christies Beach. Port Noarlunga was best served by Jayden Close, Sam Zeitz, Jordan Zeitz, Alex McKay and Joshua Johns.


Morphett Vale are up to third spot on the ladder following their 23-point win against Cove. The Cobras led narrowly at quarter time, but the Emus took over in the second and third quarters to lead by 29 points at the last change, before winning 10.15 (75) to 8.4 (52). Morphett Vale were best served by Robert Schindler-Taylor, Harry Clarkson, Braydan Hartwig, Scott Carpenter and Anthony Biemans, while Scott Ridley kicked four goals for the Emus. Aaron Wordsworth, Bradley Strapps and Scott Grieve were among the best players for Cove.
