Flagstaff Hill looking good in the Southern Football League

Reigning premier Flagstaff Hill remain the only undefeated team after three rounds of the Southern Football League (SFL) following a comfortable 38-point win at Christies Beach. The Falcons led by 20 points at quarter time, 23 at halftime and 33 points at the final change before winning 12.17 (89) to 8.3 (51). Ryan Mountford kicked four goals for the Falcons in a best on ground performance. He was ably supported by Max Renfrey, Sam Tharaldsen, Andrew Shearer and Chris Buersch. Daniel Nobes kicked four goals for Christies Beach for the third consecutive week while Jacob Crate continued his excellent season to be named best player for the Saints.

2019 runners-up Noarlunga are on the board with their first win of the campaign with a big 85-point win over Cove at Old Noarlunga. The visitors started well to lead by seven points at quarter time but from then on it was one-way traffic with the Shoes kicking 17 goals to three to win 19.12 (126) to 6.5 (41). Noarlunga had 11 different goal kickers with Vic Robertson the standout with five majors. Troy Johnson, Robertson and Jake Anderson were among the Shoes best players while Michael Galley, Scott Grieve and Scott Abbott were best for the Cobras.

Reynella also notched their first win of the season with a 21-point win at Happy Valley. The first quarter was tight with the Wine Flies leading by just six points. Happy Valley turned the tables in the second term to take the lead by nine points at halftime. That was the end of the good news for the Vikings as they failed to kick another goal for the game as Reynella took over to win 9.8 (62) to 5.11 (41). Callan Semple was the standout forward kicking four goals for Reynella while James Hay kicked three goals for Happy Valley. Dylan Roser was named best player for the winners with help from Josh Frisby and Bailey Marshman. Lee Davis, Hay and Joel Beeche were named among Happy Valley’s best players.

Port Noarlunga moved to second spot on the SFL ladder with a 38-point win at home over the previously undefeated Morphett Vale. The Cockle Divers set up their second win of the season with a dominant second quarter which saw them kick six goals to one to take a handy 39-point lead to halftime. The lead ballooned out to 62 points at three quarter time before Morphett Vale put some respectability back into the score by kicking four goals to none in the final term.
