Flagstaff Hill set up blockbuster semi-final against Noarlunga

Qualifying Final (Flagstaff Hill v Christies Beach)


Three-time reigning premier Flagstaff Hill have booked a date with minor premier Noarlunga in the second semi-final after a comprehensive 60-point win over Christies Beach. The Falcons were inaccurate in the first quarter kicking 3.6 to take a 12-point lead into quarter time. They extended their lead to 25 points at half time and despite kicking 3.9 in the third term further extended their lead out to 45 points at the last change. Five goals to two in the final term saw the final score blowout to 15.20 (110) to 7.8 (50). The Falcons had nine different goalkickers with Ben Rossi leading the way with three goals while Ryan Parry also kicked three for the Saints. Casey Davies, Mark Hollis and Rossi were best for Flagstaff Hill. Parry, Josiah Sheppard and Michael Mazey were named in the best for Christies. Christies Beach will need to bounce back in the knockout first semi-final against Port Noarlunga on Sunday to continue their season.


Elimination Final (Port Noarlunga v Reynella)


Port Noarlunga has cruised into the second week of the finals with a comprehensive 41-point win over Reynella at Port Noarlunga. After a tight opening term, Port Noarlunga led by five points at the first break. Six goals to two from the Cockle Divers broke the game open in the second quarter as the home side enjoyed a 31-point lead at the long break. The Wine Flies bounced back in the third stanza kicking four goals to one and reducing the margin to just 13 points at the last change. Reynella had given themselves a chance at an upset win but buoyed on by the home crowd, Port Noarlunga stormed away in the last quarter to win 16.10 (106) to 10.5 (65). Dylan Williams kicked six goals and Jake Veide three for the victorious Cockle Divers while Josh Frisby and Callan Semple were the only multiple goalkickers for the Wine Flies with two goals each. Williams, Daniel Trevena and Luke Irving were best for Port Noarlunga. Damon Arnold, Adam Broadbent and Ben Lockett were named best for Reynella.
