Reigning premier Flagstaff Hill kept their finals hopes alive after defeating Cove by 14 points last Friday night during round nine action in the Southern Football League (SFL) ‘A’ Grade Women’s competition. The Falcons led at every change before winning 4.5 (29) to 1.9 (15). Emily Brockhurst kicked three goals in a best-on-ground performance for ‘Flaggies’ and she was well supported by Bella Nicholls-Newman, Chloe Meyers, Alana Baker, Indianna Roberts and Rachel Crockart. Best players for the Cobras included Ashleigh Need, Georgia Hayford, Makayla Brown, Tamara Zerna and Kiarna Jackson.
Reynella kept the pressure on for a top-two spot with a huge 199-point win against Hackham yesterday. The Wine Flies led by 59 points at quarter time, 97 points at halftime, and 140 points at the last change, before winning 29.25 (199) to 0.0 (0). Reynella had 10 different goalkickers with Georgia Scholes the standout with nine goals. Ashlee Wright (4), Casey Northcott (3), Shanique West (3) and Caitlin Walter (3) provided goalkicking support for Scholes. Best players for the Wine Flies included Caitlin Williams, Walter, Zannah Loxton, Scholes, Wright and Jessica Redigolo. Best for the Hawks were Ellie-Louise Ellingham, Krista Mitchell, Nevara Richards, Samantha Smyth and Alisha MacFayden.
Christies Beach remained on top of the ladder after defeating Noarlunga by 115 points at Old Noarlunga yesterday. The Saints led by 52 points at halftime, before kicking a further 10 goals in the second half to win 18.10 (118) to 0.3 (3). Chelsea Salvemini led the way for ‘Christies’ with five goals and she was well supported by Cadence Bryowsky and Isabella Zito who kicked three goals each. Christies Beach was best served by Melanie Koster, Salvemini, Zito, Tallara Power and Angelique Dean. Best players for the Shoes included skipper Steph Alderman, Elyshiah Forrest, Shontaya Burgoyne, Megan Weetra and Skye Wilson.
Port Noarlunga won their eight game of the season with a 95-point win against Aldinga. The Cockle Divers led by 46 points at halftime, before kicking a further seven goals in the second half to win 13.17 (95) to 0.0 (0). Philippa Worthley (5), Charmaine Lynch (3) and Madison Harris (2) were the multiple goalkickers for ‘Porties’. Best players for Port Noarlunga were Jolie Malinowski, Eilish O’Hanlon, Bree Chapman, Charmaine Lynch and Amelia Michailescu. For the Sharks, Paige Curtin, Ayla Regione, Jessica Harris, Olivia Savage and Jessamy Stanway.
