Flagstaff Hill to battle it out with Christies Beach for a berth in the SFL Grand Final

Preliminary Final (2.30pm Saturday 14 September @ Noarlunga)

Reigning premier Flagstaff Hill will take on Christies Beach in the Preliminary Final at Noarlunga on Saturday for the right to play Noarlunga in the Southern Football League (SFL) Grand Final on September 21. Flagstaff Hill had no answer to the all-conquering Noarlunga in the second semi-final last week as they went down by 44 points while Christies Beach ground out a tough 17-point win over Port Noarlunga in the first semi-final.

Flagstaff Hill has dominated Christies this season, winning all three contests by an average of 58 points, including the Qualifying Final by 60 points in week one of the finals series. Christies Beach will take confidence from their first semi-final victory over Port Noarlunga and they’ll hope to use that against the three-time reigning premier.

David Kearsley, Brad Patterson and Sam Tharaldsen have had excellent seasons for Flagstaff Hill while Sam Smith has led the way up forward with 32 goals. SFL leading goalkicker Blake Carter has been a shining light up forward for Christies Beach with 74 goals in 2019 and he’ll need to kick a bag for the Saints to have a chance.

Hard to go past Flagstaff Hill in this one but hopefully it’s a good contest. My tip...Flagstaff Hill by 33 points.
