Reigning premier Flagstaff Hill defeated Christies Beach by one point in a thrilling preliminary final in the Southern Football League (SFL) ‘A’ Grade Women’s competition at Morphett Vale today. Flagstaff Hill led by 19 points at halftime and they looked set for a good win, but ‘Christies’ had other ideas as they reduced the margin to just five points at the last break. The Saints hit the front in the last quarter, but ‘Flaggies’ kicked the final goal of the game to win 7.3 (45) to 7.2 (44). Emily Brockhurst was a star for the Falcons with four goals to be named her team's best player. She was well supported by Brooke Watson, Alana Baker, Kelsey Rodman, Chloe Meyers and Elizabeth Johnson. Chelsea Salvemini, Cadence Bryowsky and Neriah Mills all kicked two goals for Christies Beach, while their best players were Melanie Koster, Paige Simmons, Brina Thompson-Fitzgerald, Salvemini, Kiah Smith and Tallara Power.
