Reigning premier Flagstaff Hill have started their 2022 campaign in fine style with a huge 190-point win against Hackham during round one action in the Southern Football League Women’s (SFLW) ‘A’ grade competition. ‘Flaggies’ dominated from the outset with an amazing 17 goalkickers in a 28.22 (190) to 0.0 (0) victory. Bethany Bell kicked five goals to lead the way for the Falcons. Best players for Flagstaff Hill were Tamsyn Morriss, Jasmin Partridge, Bell, Chloe Meyers and Ebony Scanlan. Jessica Sherry, Maddison Hay and Rhylee McCall were among the best players for Hackham.

Port Noarlunga started their season well with a tough seven-point win over Aldinga at Port Noarlunga. There were only four goals kicked for the day with ‘Porties’ winning 2.8 (20) to 2.1 (13). Bree Chapman, Philippa Worthley, Elisha Scriven, Sheridan Poland and Kirsty Watson were named best players for Port Noarlunga, while best players for the Sharks were Jemma Looyestyn, Ayla Regione, Charlotte Bayford and Amber O’Hanlon.

2021 runner-up Reynella defeated Christies Beach by 42 points to start their 2022 season in style. Casie Coombe starred for Reynella with four goals in a best-on-ground performance. Savannah Rayner kicked the only goal for ‘Christies’. Other good players for the Wine Flies were Zannah Loxton, Grace Doran, Caitlin Walter, Anja Bancevic and Tyler Davies. Christies Beach were best served by Melanie Koster, Mackenzie Bryowsky and Brina Thompson-Fitzgerald.
