Fleurieu App breaks new groundFleurieu App founder and operator Susie Williams has some exciting announcements!

As many of us get ready to say goodbye and good riddance to the year that was 2020, the Fleurieu App team are excited to announce some good news.

The app is expanding its offerings to now include all digital platforms - so, not only is the Fleurieu App accessible on smartphones and tablets, it will also be available to access online via desktops and laptops.

This means that users who prefer to read articles and search for Fleurieu Peninsula and Kangaroo Island information, services, businesses and things to do on a bigger screen can now do so via their trusty computer, mouse and keyboard.

“Some of the feedback we’ve received is that our users love being able to access the app while out and about in our beautiful region,” says App Operator Susie Williams.

“But we also have a certain percentage of people who would be more comfortable using their personal computer to use our app,” Susie says.

“Those who work at a computer for most of the day or who do not have a smartphone or tablet can now remain abreast of what’s happening on the Fleurieu Peninsula whether that be the weather, the surf reports, places to eat and places to stay.

“It’s great news for our advertisers as we will be exposing their services to more users, and great news for our users too, as we’re connecting them with everything they need to know to enjoy the Fleurieu Peninsula and Kangaroo Island as a visitor or a local.”

The website to access Fleurieu App via a desktop or laptop is www.fleurieunews.com.au

Moving into a new digital space is not the only thing the Fleurieu App team has to celebrate. Even though it’s been a tough year for many small businesses, the Fleurieu App continues to grow. In its first 16 months of operation, the App has now received 6,500 downloads with over 400,000 events.

Additionally, our founder Susie was delighted to be included in Newscorp's list of McLaren Vale's 10 top female entrepreneurs this month. "It was an absolute privilege to be listed among some women who I find to be inspirational, from winemakers and restaurateurs to absolute icons of the region like Pip Forrester," Susie says.

Lastly, to celebrate what we hope will be a safe and happy Covid-style Christmas and the curtain coming down on 2020, the Fleurieu App is also giving away its biggest prize pool of more than $2000 worth of goods and services donated by supportive local businesses.

To enter the competition, follow and like the Fleurieu App Facebook page, share our competition post, and enter on the App’s WIN page. The prize pool includes three $100 Aldinga Central vouchers, two Thrifty Link Mount Compass $30 vouchers and two ratchet strap packs (total approximate value $140), plus Chalk Hill and Vineyard Road wines, local art, pub vouchers and more.

The competition closes Wednesday 23 December at midnight.

“We wanted to bring some joy to our readers at the end of what has been a pretty crappy year, and say thank you for your support,” Susie says.

“Thanks to our amazing advertisers and donors of our prizes and we look forward to announcing our winners!”
