Fleurieu business finds favour with KochieBev and Steve of Mount Compass celebrate their business, Robertson's Skin Care, being a finalist in Kochie's Back to Business 2021.

A Mount Compass skincare business has caught the eye of finance commentator and Sunrise host David ‘Kochie’ Koch in an Australia-wide business search.

Owned by Steve Gee and wife Bev, Robertson’s Skin Care is one of nine finalists in Kochie’s Back to Business 2021, which recognises small businesses that have demonstrated ingenuity and innovation during the Covid-19 pandemic.

During the pandemic, the business launched a new product, Robertson’s Hand/Body Wash, as a natural alternative to the “endless supply of hand sanitisers on the market”.

According to Steve, when Covid-19 hit, “people were complaining of dry, inflamed hands”.

“We knew there had to be a better way to clean and protect the hands without the use of harsh alcohol based sanitisers,” he said.

Robertson’s Hand/Body Wash brings together olive, coconut, sunflower and avocado oils together with potassium to create a delicate and gentle liquid soap. With no preservatives, fragrances or additives, the product is perfect for dry skin.

Steve and Bev have owned and run Robinson’s Skin Care from Mount Compass since 2003.

The business’s Robertson’s flagship product is Robertson’s Skin Repair Ointment, a natural skin ointment for eczema and dermatitis developed by South Australian Malcolm Robertson in 1988.

Steve was an eczema sufferer for many years and says he is now completely cured of eczema after trying the ointment.

“I was so impressed, I bought the company,” he says.

Kochie’s Back to Business 2021 website features top tips from each of the nine finalist businesses, with Steve’s top tip to small business people, of course, being to launch a new product.

The public is asked to vote for their favourite tip, online at https://www.kochiesbusinessbuilders.com.au/back-to-business/

The business with the most votes scores a spot on KBB TV, aired nationally on Channel 7. Voting closes at 11:59 PM, 28 March, 2021.

Other finalist businesses include a Canadian-themed cafe bar in Queensland, a hiking adventure company in Victoria, and a black garlic producer in New South Wales,

Steve says he and Bev are passionate about helping people with skin problems, and love running their business from home.

“We are proud to be a part of the Mount Compass community and feel truly blessed to be living on the Fleurieu Peninsula,” he says.
