Fleurieu councils' rates on the rise

All four Fleurieu councils have now voted in their annual budgets and business plans for 2022-23, with rates rises ranging from 4.7 per cent to 6.2 per cent.


The Cities of Onkaparinga and Victor Harbor both came in at the lower end, each determining a 4.7 per cent increase to rates.


Onkaparinga council adopted its $218.16 million budget, covering 88 categories, on 5 July.


The largest budget items are road maintenance at $31.39 million and improving parks and play spaces at $20.38 million.

Victor Harbor council adopted its $49.8 million budget and business plan at a special meeting on 13 July.


It forecasts a capital works program worth $17 million and operating expenditure of $32.9 million, resulting in a deficit of $1 million.

The District Council of Yankalilla will raise its rates by 5.5 per cent in the current financial year, following adoption of its annual budget at a special meeting on 13 July.

Alexandrina Council region adopted its budget on 4 July, resulting in an average rates rise of 6.2 per cent.


Mayor Keith Parkes says the budget includes funding for Master Plans in the townships of Port Elliot, Middleton and Milang, as well as delivery of key infrastructure projects for the region, such as the Goolwa Wharf redevelopment.
