Fleurieu & Districts finished their Senior Country Cup campaign on a damp note after the second innings of their match against Eyre Peninsula at South Gawler was washed out leaving the game abandoned. Fleurieu finished the carnival with two wins, one loss and one draw from their four matches. Before the rain came, Fleurieu & Districts batted out their 50 overs to post 7/232. Ryan King was the star of the innings with a swashbuckling 95 from just 35 balls! King brought up his 50 off 22 balls and hit 10 boundaries and eight sixes in his brief yet entertaining innings. Ben Matthews carried his bat through the innings to score an undefeated 60 from 138 balls. Luke Goldner (20 not out) and Frank Clements (20) chipped in with handy contributions as well.
Ben Matthews (Lobethal) led the Fleurieu & Districts batting with 159 runs at an average of 79.50. Frank Clements (Aldgate) was next with 137 runs at 34.25 followed by Aaron Zrim (Mypolonga) with 124 runs at 31.00. Troy Blackwell (Langhorne Creek) was the leading Fleurieu & Districts bowler with eight wickets at an average of 10.00. Zrim had a fine all-round carnival as he added seven wickets at 13.86 to his 124 runs to win the Athol Payne medal as the Fleurieu's top performing player.
