The South Australian Cricket Association (SACA) Under 16 Junior Boys and Under 16 Junior Girls carnivals were held last week at venues throughout the Fleurieu region and metropolitan Adelaide. The Fleurieu & Districts Junior Boys had a good week, winning three out of their four games, but unfortunately missed out on playing in the semi finals by a miniscule 0.02%! The Adelaide Turf Cricket Association won the carnival after taking out a thrilling Grand Final against Eyre Peninsula by one wicket. Tanner King (Lobethal) was the leading run scorer for Fleurieu & Districts with 127 runs at an average of 42.33, and he was well supported by Tyson Roberts (Strathalbyn) with 113 runs (37.67). On the bowling front, Finn Magor (Encounter Bay) took seven wickets at 14.71, while Harry Jackson (Noarlunga) snared five scalps at 10.80.
The Fleurieu & Districts Junior Girls had a competitive week as they won two of their four matches. Barossa & Light won the carnival after defeating Adelaide Turf by seven wickets at Karen Rolton Oval. Aliyah Scamoni (Aldgate) was the standout batter for the Fleurieu & Districts team with 79 runs at an average of 79.00. Best with the ball was Minka McCauley (MacGillivray) who captured six wickets at an average of just 6.83.
