Fleurieu & Districts win Under 16's SACA Country Cup

Fleurieu & Districts won the SACA Under 16 Country Cup after completing an undefeated carnival this week, culminating in an 89-run victory over Barossa & Light in the Grand Final yesterday at Karen Rolton Oval. Fleurieu & Districts defeated South East, Mid North and Murray Districts on their way to the decider.

Fleurieu & Districts won the toss and elected to bat first with Brodie Clarke top scoring with 49 off 65 balls (7 x 4’s, 1 x 6) as the Fleurieu boys posted a very competitive total of 9/202 from their 50 overs, their best total of the tournament. Austin Poulton (3/39) and Walter Kinlock (3/44) were the chief wicket takers for Barossa & Light. Barossa & Light were never in the hunt as they slipped to a precarious 5/40 before eventually being dismissed for 113 in the 37th over. Riley Horsburgh was the shining light for the Barossa team as he top scored with 44. Clarke continued his good day as he snared 4/7 (7.4). Joel Doecke was the other multiple wicket taker for Fleurieu & Districts with 2/28 (8).

The team was well led by Coach Chris May and Team Manager Kent Llewellyn and had many contributors throughout the week. Mason Pitt was the leading run scorer for Fleurieu & Districts with 135 runs at an average of 33.75 while Brodie Clarke was the top wicket taker of the carnival taking 12 wickets at the incredible average of just 2.25! His 12 wicket haul included the amazing figures of 7/10 on Wednesday against Murray Districts.
