Fleurieu Folk Festival puts Willunga on the map

The Fleurieu Folk Festival returns in 2022 with a full three-day program from 21-23 October.

The Willunga Recreation Park will host the event, which features more than 50 local, interstate and international folk musicians.

The three-day music celebration covers a broad range of genres, including traditional and contemporary folk, acoustic, Celtic, blues, Americana, roots and bluegrass.

As well as live performances the festival includes workshops, sessions, dancers, blackboard concerts, musical theatre, poetry, spoken word and children’s entertainment.

Market stalls and local food and wine complete the Willunga experience, with a special venue, Cafe AcousticA, for people who want to drop in play their own music and a Busk Stop for buskers.

Promoting young South Australian musicians has always been a significant priority for the Fleurieu Folk Festival.

Each year the festival nominates an outstanding folk musician aged between 14 and 25 to represent South Australia in Folk Alliance Australia's youth showcase concerts at the National Folk Festival in Canberra.

The aim of the Youth Awards is to boost the profile of young performers and introduce, support and encourage them to the next level of their development.

Fleurieu Folk Festival has been named the Community Event of the Year award in the City of Onkaparinga's Australia Day Awards four times in the last seven years, including in 2022.

Full details of the program and ticketing is on the website.
