The Connect Victor venue buzzed with energy on Thursday, November 14, as over 100 locals came together for a night of celebration and support for the Fleurieu Peninsula community. Hosted by Community Bank Fleurieu, the evening showcased the power of collaboration, generosity, and shared purpose.
Supporting Local Groups with $133,000 in Grants
A key highlight of the event was the announcement of $133,000 in Community Grants, benefiting 14 local organisations. These grants are set to support initiatives across the Fleurieu Peninsula, strengthening grassroots programs and enhancing the lives of local residents.
One standout was a $50,000 grant to the 2025 Kangaroo Island Future Leaders Program, funded through the Bendigo Bank 2019/2020 Adelaide Hills & Kangaroo Island Bushfire Appeal. This significant contribution underscores the ongoing connection and shared resilience between the Kangaroo Island and Fleurieu Peninsula communities.
Auction Sparks Friendly Rivalry and Raises Funds
Beyond the grants, the evening was filled with light-hearted moments that highlighted the community’s generosity. A spontaneous auction by Buttoned Up Co, a not-for-profit organization providing blankets and pyjamas to those in need, sparked spirited bidding wars. Notably, the Mayor of Victor Harbor and the new CEO of Alexandrina Council went head-to-head, raising $440. Matched by Community Bank Fleurieu, the total donation reached $880, ensuring comfort for vulnerable members of the community.
A Celebration of Community Spirit
The event was not just about financial contributions but also about celebrating the shared commitment to making a difference. Attendees enjoyed lively conversations, laughter, and a palpable sense of community pride.
Local residents expressed their gratitude for the ongoing support provided by Community Bank Fleurieu, which operates branches in Aldinga, Victor Harbor, Goolwa, and Willunga. By reinvesting 80% of their profits into local projects, the bank plays a vital role in driving change across the region.
A Look to the Future
The evening highlighted what can be achieved when a community comes together. With $133,000 in grants distributed and funds raised for local causes, attendees left inspired by the collective possibilities for the future.
From grassroots initiatives to regional partnerships, the Fleurieu Peninsula’s spirit of collaboration continues to shine, promising a brighter, stronger community for all.
