The Department of Primary Industries and Regions will hold a Focus Farm Field Day at the ‘Burnt Oak’ property in Middleton on Tuesday 19 April.
The day is part of the Red Meat and Wool Growth Program, which aims to promote best practice farm management.
It will be held at the Higgins family property ‘Burnt Oak’ at 228 Burgar Road in Middleton from 9.30 to 2pm.
The event is free and registration can be done online.
There will be a focus on livestock technologies and how they can be implemented on-farm to improve productivity and efficiency.
Speakers:
Mark Higgins, Burnt Oak - Technology in the Higgins livestock business.
Tim Prance - Pasture monitoring options.
Kent Llewellyn - Genetic selection and AI technology for commercial herds.
Anthony Chick, Optiweigh - In paddock weighing that works.
James Ellis, Datamars (Trutest) - Demonstration of new crush, weigh crate and data collection process.
Morning tea and lunch will be supplied.
Visitors should ensure that vehicle and boots are clean prior to entry, and they use the footpath on arrival.
