Normanville Foreshore will become safer and more inclusive for the whole community, according to the District Council of Yankalilla.
The council revealed its $11.6 million master plan for the foreshore redevelopment at its July meeting.
The plan has been in the making for the last five years and the council has secured more than $6 million in external funding towards the project.
The funds will be put towards new dining areas, a new surf lifesaving club, more recreation space, and improved access to the beach.
Better accessibility to the beach, jetty and surf club for people living with disability or mobility issues, as well as those with prams is part of the plan.
Pedestrian safety will be improved by reconfiguration of the road and carpark, and a nature play space will add to recreation options while maintaining lawn space, parking and boat access.
The council says community feedback has played an important role in changes to the masterplan, with more than 20 changes due to community input.
However not all community feedback has been positive.
Many people have expressed concern about the debt council will incur and about potential environmental damage to the foreshore.
In early July, more than 140 people from the community joined a rally in front of the Yankalilla Council to show their concerns.
