A forum to discuss the Uluru Statement from the Heart will be held in Victor Harbor on Wednesday 27 July.
It has been organised by the Fleurieu Aboriginal and Community Initiatives Network on behalf of Miwi-Inyeri Pelepi-Ambi Aboriginal Corporation.
The Statement from the Heart came from a consensus of many Indigenous groups and communities, addressing a call for recognition of First Nations people in the Australian Constitution.
With a national referendum on an Indigenous Voice to Parliament on the agenda for this term of federal government, discussion has begun on the form it might take.
The History is Calling forum aims to promote awareness, education and serve as a call to action for the community to listen from the heart.
The south coast community is invited to attend to gain a deeper understanding of the Uluru Statement from the Heart, what change it is seeking to achieve and how to be involved.
Guest speakers include Sally Scales and Elijah Bravington, signatories of the Uluru Statement, who will talk about their experience.
The forum will be held at Encounter Lutheran College on the Adelaide Road, Hayborough, from 5.30pm to 8pm.
