Forum to discuss GP shortage

The focus is on South Australian General Practitioners in McLaren Vale today, Saturday 1 February, at a forum on how to address the shortage of doctors in the state.

The SA Future GP Panel will discuss the attraction and retention of GPs in regional and rural communities.

It is hosted by General Practice Registrars Australia (GPRA) with independent Mayo MP Rebekha Sharkie at the McLaren Vale Function Centre.

The audience will include medical students, national General Practice Students Network  (GPSN) executive members and University GP Club Chairs from across 21 universities, GP Registrars and Fellows, as well as local health organisation representatives.

GP Dr Kim Ormond will moderate the panel discussion, which comprises Minister for Health and Wellbeing Chris Picton; GPRA President Dr Chris Dickie; Pre-vocational doctor Dr Rohan Nitchingham; and GPSN National Chair and third-year Bond University medical student Ms Kei Hsieh.
