Four on the trot for Flagstaff HillFlagstaff Hill celebrate their fourth consecutive premiership after a 33-point victory over Noarlunga in the Southern Football League Grand Final.

Flagstaff Hill has caused a major boilover to win their fourth consecutive Southern Football League (SFL) premiership with a 33-point win over the previously undefeated Noarlunga.


The Falcons came into the game as underdogs, having lost all three encounters against the Shoes this season by an average of 53 points, including a comprehensive 44-point loss in the second semi-final. The opening term was tight and tough with Flagstaff Hill taking a six-point lead into quarter time. The Falcons took over in the second quarter kicking five unanswered goals to take a commanding 38-point lead into the long break.


Noarlunga weren’t going to give up on their season and hit back hard in the third term kicking four goals to one and reducing the margin back to 21 points at the last change and it was ‘game on’. Flagstaff Hill would not be denied their shot at the ‘4-peat’ and drew upon all their finals experience to kick away again in the final term with three goals to one to run out winners 12.9 (81) to 7.6 (48).


Mark Hollis with three and Max Renfrey and Sam Smith each with two goals were the multiple goalkickers for Flagstaff Hill. Nick Mott and Terry Milera kicked two goals each for Noarlunga. Sam Tharaldsen, David Kearsley, Hollis, Renfrey and Daniel Webb were best for the Falcons while Sam Hamilton, Joel Brown, Ben Goldfinch and Josh Thewlis were named in the best players for Noarlunga.


In other grades Noarlunga defeated Christies Beach by nine points in the Reserves, Happy Valley won the Under 17.5 flag after a 15-point victory over Flagstaff Hill and  Reynella won by 12 points over a gallant Christies Beach in the Under 15’s.
