The City of Victor Harbor has secured $3.3 million in grant funding to continue the revitalisation of its Mainstreet Precinct.

Partnership funding through the SA Government’s Local Government Infrastructure Program will help deliver Stage Four of the Victor Harbor Mainstreet Precinct Master Plan.

Stage Four involves transformation of the southern end of Ocean Street and Albert Place.

City of Victor Harbor Mayor Dr Moira Jenkins has welcomed news of the grant funding.

“Securing funding to continue the rollout of our Mainstreet Precinct Master Plan is a huge win for Victor Harbor and shows we continue to be a place of choice to invest in,” she says.

“This next stage is going to deliver the most dramatic transformation yet. It focuses on creating a place that attracts people with more outdoor dining, places to sit, entertainment opportunities and a beautiful streetscape to enjoy.”

“It’s all about delivering a memorable public space that will help stimulate business growth and boost our local economy.”

Stage Four of the Victor Harbor Mainstreet Precinct will build on the first three stages and will focus on improved pedestrian usability, street greening, inclusion of public art, and enhancing the overall appearance of the area to show the Mainstreet Precinct’s importance to locals and visitors.

The project will connect the town centre’s southern gateway and tourism hub to iconic tourist attractions – Granite Island, the Horse Drawn Tram and regional event space Warland Reserve.

Construction works are expected to be undertaken in the first half of 2022.

Full details of the Main Street project are available on the City of Victor Harbor website.
