District Council of Yankalilla has secured funding to run community-driven drug action programs.
The funding of $18,130 is through the Local Drug Action Team program, supported by the Australian Drug Foundation.
It will enable programs across three areas; club development activities, parent education and youth programs.
The club activities aim to change knowledge, beliefs and intention to act around alcohol and other drugs in the sporting community.
Responsible Service of Alcohol training, Mental Health First Aid training, safe transport and alcohol and other drug education will be covered.
The parent education sessions will be open held at three different locations and open to the community.
They will be delivered by parenting and child development expert Mark Le Messurier and aim to increase confidence and resilience skills in parenting.
Youth-focused programs will be delivered in partnership with RecLink and Yankalilla Library, providing opportunities for young people to engage in activities not typically offered in the region.
The Community Team at the District Council of Yankalilla has thanked the local community for its valuable input and support of programs to be delivered.
