An Aldinga Beach man has been reported for firearms offences.
On Wednesday 8 October, during a routine firearms compliance check, police located an unregistered gel blaster at an Aldinga Beach property, a breach of the Firearms Act.
The gel blaster was seized by police, and the 46-year-old man was reported for possess unregistered firearm (gel blaster). He will appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court at a later date.
Police remind members of the public that as part of Operation Secure, compliance checks are regularly conducted on licensed firearm owners, and is important that firearms are stored, transported and used in compliance with their responsibilities under the Firearms Act.
If you have a gel blaster, you have a firearm.
Gel blasters are subject to the same licensing, registration and security conditions as other firearms.
Any person not licensed to have a gel blaster or any person with a gel blaster that is not registered can surrender it to police or a participating licensed firearms dealer as part of the firearms amnesty.
For the opportunities to surrender or to obtain authorisation for the gel blaster, go to the SAPOL website.
