Alexandrina Council welcomed the crew of travel show Getaway, in less socially distant times, to highlight the best that Goolwa has to offer.

Visitors may not be able to check them out in person right now, but they can see it all from the comfort of the couch.

Tune in to Channel 9 tonight, Saturday 25 April at 5.30pm as presenter Charli Robinson explores the historic river front precinct.

She then takes a 4WD on to Goolwa Beach to learn the fine art of the cockle dance with local guru Alistair. 

The council has congratulated local businesses Rivers End Retreat and Goolwa PipiCo, which feature in the episode. 

The state government continues to strongly discourage all unnecessary travel across South Australia due to COVID-19. 

Alexandrina looks forward to welcoming visitors back to the region with open arms, but says right now the best thing they can do is stay home. 

They hope the Getaway episode inspires viewers to visit once restrictions are lifted.
