Kangaroo Island residents and ratepayers have been given only two weeks to have a say on the council’s draft annual business plan and budget for 2023/2024.
The council released the draft for pubic consultation on 25 May and the deadline for feedback is Thursday 8 June.
It will hold a public consultation session on Thursday 1 June from 5.30pm in the Council Chambers in Kingscote.
The draft 2023/2024 Annual Business Plan outlines the proposed program of works for the next financial year and include a six per cent rise in rates.
Kangaroo Island Mayor Michael Pengilly says considerable effort goes into developing the Budget each year to ensure the mix of services and capital works meets the needs of residents, businesses and visitors to the region.
“At the same time, we also aim to balance the provision of services and facilities with the ability of our communities to pay.
“We value the community’s input and encourage participation in the consultation process,” he says.
