Setting and achieving goals was the focus for the first Women in Business Regional Network functions for 2020.
Stephanie Altus from 1 Big Goal was the guest speaker at McLaren Vale and Victor Harbor in January, sharing her story of how she overcame significant mental and physical challenges to achieve her goals.
A foundation member of the network, Stephanie has written a book telling the story of the challenges she has faced dealing with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) through her employment in the emergency services.
The book, My Faded Uniform, also provides tips for others dealing with the issue.
In 2018 Stephanie walked the Camino Trail alone from France to Spain, in the process raising funds for the Black Dog Institute.
Much of the proceeds from the sale of her book have been channelled into causes supporting those with PTSD.
Now she is looking forward to helping others achieve their one big goal through the launch of online programs and support groups.
The next Victor Harbor dinner will be held on Wednesday 19 February at the Grosvenor Hotel when a representative from nbn™ Local will speak about how to get the most out of your internet connection for business and will field questions and concerns about the nbn™ system.
On Wednesday 12 February the network is off to lunch at Magpie Springs Winery and Gallery at Hope Forest to talk work/life balance.
The Women in Business Regional Network is open to business owners, managers, staff and those dreaming of owning their own business. You don’t have to be a member to attend events but bookings are essential via Eventbrite.com.au.
